Ian is… feelin’ the groove.
hey guys!
November was a slow month in terms of video postings, but just because i didn’t get a vid out doesn’t mean there aren’t good things a-comin’. so sit down for a minute and read my blabberings about the month that’s passed and the month that layeth ahead!
VIDEOTALK
no upload in November, which stresses me out a bit i’ll be honest, but i have been working diligently on a new collab movie review that i filmed with Luke aka Yungtown! he’s one of my favorite people to collaborate with (and just in general). i think it’s coming together super well, and i’m hoping it’ll serve as a fitting follow-up to our Twilight review which is one of my favorites. (the review itself isn’t of another Twilight movie, to be clear, but i’m hoping the style and pace will be similar)
i’ll admit the video isn’t coming together as quickly as i’d hoped, but nothing ever does. i always underestimate how long editing takes. it’s been so nice to not feel pressured to rush out a video to meet a brand deadline, though. i’m certain that the extra time in the oven is making this video a much better cake for the eyes.
Patreon Supporters can watch a sneak peak of the video here! i don’t plan on paywalling anything big behind the Patreon wall, but i might start dropping previews of stuff and maybe a behind-the-scene or two as a thank you to people supporting me there.
coming up: i’m not sure what video comes next after this movie review! i’ve got a list of ideas going, but if theres any formats you guys would like to see or topics you’d like me to try, feel free to let me know!
STREAMTALK
november was a great month over on Twitch! i’ve become pretty regular with my monday / wednesday / friday schedule over there. can’t say i didn’t miss any days, but i definitely didn’t miss many.
the big ticket stream series for the November included my Saw: The Game playthrough, which was… y’know it was interesting. (i also did a written review of the game on my blog) i also played through Nancy Drew: Secret of the Scarlet Hand, which was… y’know it was okay. i can’t lie, it wasn’t my favorite Drew, but it did seem like a number of viewers regarded it as one of their childhood favorites.
one-shot streams included checking out Fashion Dreamer on Switch, some ChillScape, a Pepper Playthrough of LEGO Island, and also a bit of Mario Party 1.
coming up: not sure of the specifics yet, but i’m definitely wanting to get into some christmas shenanigans. i’ve also started brainstorming for a new Bingo98 season, and ive been playing with the idea of bringing back the full Friday Night Mario Party experience (though it likely wouldn’t happen every single week as once it did.) i really had fun doing the original 3 seasons of Bingo98, and i’m definitely interested in having more gameshow-esque formats to do on stream to compliment my full game playthroughs.
MUSIC
i am determined to post my album this month! sorry for the delay… at this point it’s honestly just nerves. i did add a few of the new songs onto the site player, though.
WEBSITE
i’m considering pushing the big website update even though it’s not %100 finished. it’s like right on the goal line, i’m only missing a page or two… but i really do not want to make those pages, and i keep putting it off. i think i should just push the main redesign out and get to those pages when the mood strikes me… i can just make a fun 404 page in the meantime.
WHAT TO WATCH
i’m gonna take a sec to shout out some of my friends and the content they’ve been putting out! if you’re looking for something to watch, here’s some options:
YUNGTOWN
Luke’s got a really rad new video out based on Holes, the Shia LaBeouf classic. he talks movie, he digs hole, and of course he includes some music production as well!
CHADTRONIC
Chad has been pumping out a lot of vids lately, i’m super jealous of his upload pace right now. tough to pick just one upload to promote, but this mcdonald’s training video coverage is something that i think Mystery Tapes fans will enjoy.
OBLIVIOUSBEN
viewers of my stream might recognize Ben as one of my mods, but he’s recently tossed his hat into the video essay ring. i thought this review of a made-for-TV christmas movie was a really solid first effort, and a nice long-form watch for fans of chill retro TV coverage! it’s also quite seasonally appropriate.
THE END
that’s all i’ve got for today! no longwinded exit this time, i’m just going to get back to work on this video. hoping to get it finished this week and uploaded on the weekend of the 9th/10th!
Always great to hear from you Ian, and just as great to hear there’s new stuff soon! Just in case we don’t hear from you again before then, I hope you have a lovely holiday 🙂
No matter how long it take you to work on and finish anything it’s worth the wait!
Thanks for the update moose! It’s always good to hear from you regardless of if it’s a video, stream, or blog post.
I love when you collab with Luke! Excited to see what december stuff happens :))))))))The next Nancy Drew you should play is called “The Deadly Device”, it’s such a cool atmosphere (Corrupt scientists/tesla coil etc) and it was my first Nancy drew game that got me into the series
slay
it’d be nice to see some more brutalmalls especially now while malls are actually occupied
Excited for the BrutalFuture.
