Pop Star Review Released, Food Video Inbound

Hey there!

I realize now that when I post a new video here, there’s usually no clear place on my website to comment about it. Your options are either the latest blog or the guestbook, neither of which are ideal. I’ll try to start making blog posts alongside new video uploads, that way it’s more like “okay, I can talk about that video here,” you know?

Anyway I know that my movie reviews appeal to a smaller crowd than my food videos, but I hope the smaller crowd enjoyed the Pop Star review! I’ve seriously been wanting to talk about this movie for years, but when I first discovered the film it was at the same time that Aaron Carter was going through some of his public meltdown-ing. It just felt a little tacky at the time. Now that he’s in the boxing ring, though, I felt cleared for takeoff. Pop Star really is one of my favorite bad movies, and it’s held up on repeat watches which is pretty incredible. It’s just so roast-able, it’s great to talk over the entire way through.

Next up, very very soon, is a food video! It’s definitely different than any other food video that I’ve done so far. In a lot of ways it’s the polar opposite of the Snackables video. Where the Snackables video was an over-the-top VFX fiasco, this video is more stripped down, simple, and actually focuses on the food a little bit more. It’s not a matter of ‘which style is better’, really, I’m just wondering if this is a style that I could also do from time to time. Just trying things out, basically, and seeing what works. So look forward to that here real soon!

And then after that food video emerges, I’ll start planning for the Fatty Bear stream! Exciting shit.

Okay that’s all the time I’ve got for now, back to food video editing.

Do you think he ever grew into those pants? Maybe some things are meant to stay a mystery.

You have no idea how blown my mind was when I saw David Cassidy AND Leif Garrett in the same scene! Also the lead girl in this was also the lead in a Disney Channel Original Movie called Motorcrossed. Who knew they’d be so many people I’d recognize. I just can’t believe it got made at all. Did you also notice when Aaron Carter’s character started going to school, NO ONE was freaking out that a huge ‘Pop Star’ was there. You’d think girls would be fangirling over him on the first day and yet the nerdy girl gets all… Read more »

I noticed that too!
I was actually interested in what was going to happen when he went to school, but it was just… nothing. I was expecting autographs galore and stuff, but nope, it was all “oh hey it’s that one teen idol, that’s cool”

Pop Star is very strange. I’m gonna have to see if it’s on Disney+ so I can watch the masterpiece itself, giant pants & all.

The Pop Star video was lots of fun! Was going to wait to watch with my mom, but caved and saw it the morning after upload. I showed my family some of it this morning and there were lots of laughs. I absolutely lost it when you put yourself on the stage with Aaron Carter in the beginning. Great jokes and an unbelievably awful movie!

Your Pop Star video was incredible! This video definitely reminded me of A Very Cool Christmas – not Disney, but Disney-like, clearly low budget with one known actor to pin the whole thing together.

My favorite part was hearing you laugh at everyone wearing flower dresses. It was maybe the most infectious Ian laugh I have ever heard, haha.

Pop Star was a film I watched once and completely forgot about until I saw your thumbnail. Now I have to go to my moms to dig up my old copy and rewatch it!

Can I just say that your cardigan in the new vid is incredible, I feel so strongly about this I commented it on the actual video as well lol. The retro/vintage vibes are impeccable as always 👌😩

Definitely a new instant classic; I was having a stressful day when the review came out, and it totally helped me to relax and feel better, as a Brutalmoose video always does.

do any real life teachers actually use a mirror on a stick like that to check for cheating or is that something weird the writers made up for the movie??

Just wanna say that I looooove the movie review vids too. I know they’re wonkier to work with, but the few (now very few, it seems) youtubers that are good at reviewing some Bad-In-The-Right-Ways movies are always some of the best content out there, I think. It was actually how I found your channel!

So yeah, no obligation to do anything less or more, of course, but it was an awesome surprise to see that vid pop up the other day! It gave me YoutubeNostalgia in the best way. Thanks!
